Chromecast now streams Showtime Anytime and Starz to your TV

Showtime Anytime and Starz now offer support for Google's Chromecast device, which plugs into any HDTV to stream online videos and music, controlled from your tablet or smartphone.

This is big news for fans of Homeland, The Affair, Outlander and other shows exclusive to those premium networks.

For example, Showtime subscribers can now access Showtime Anytime on their mobile devices, select a show to watch on demand and then stream it directly to the TV via Chromecast.

The $35 HDMI dongle, which debuted in 2013, also supports HBO Go, Vimeo, Redbox Instant, Netflix, YouTube and Hulu Plus.

Chromecast users can also stream more games Wheel of Fortune, Monopoly Dash, Scrabble Blitz, Connect Four Quads and Simon Swipe, allowing the apps on a mobile device to serve as a game controller and the TV to act as the board. Dance and trivia games like Emoji Party (an exclusive to Chromecast) were added to the repertoire too.

As a part of a holiday promotion, Google is offering two free months of Hulu Plus and 90 days of Google Play All Access Music service to Chromecast users without subscriptions to both platforms.

Although Chromecast was originally only available in the United States, it launched the device in 10 other countries earlier this year, including Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
